About this guide
How distances across borders are measured
Every distance on Next Door is a straight line between two OpenStreetMap points, computed by the guide. The clocks read the time zone built into the reader's browser, so the difference shown is measured at that moment.

Where the points come from
Towns on Next Door are OpenStreetMap place points. Each one was checked on October 9, 2026, along with the border towns, time zones and door rules. Venue facts were checked a little earlier, on October 7 and 8, 2026.
One town needs a different point. Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac has no place point of its own. The guide uses the label point of its town boundary instead, which falls at the centre of former Cabano.
The Tobique Gaming Center building is not on the map at all. Each of its distances starts at the Tobique First Nation map point. They can be off by 1 or 2 km as a result.
Straight lines, not roads
Each distance on Next Door is a straight line between two map points, computed by the guide from OpenStreetMap. It is not a driving distance. Nor does it say anything about routes or how long a trip takes. The site gives no travel times.
From Casino New Brunswick, the line runs 135.4 km to Wolastoq Casino, 228.1 km to Tobique and 295.5 km to Grey Rock. Grey Rock Casino sits 80.9 km from Tobique Gaming Center and 200.8 km from Wolastoq Casino. Tobique to Wolastoq measures 120.6 km. Every figure here is in a straight line.
How the clocks work
The clocks on Next Door read the time zones built into the reader's browser. New Brunswick shows Atlantic time, and Québec and Maine show Eastern time. The difference on screen is measured at that moment, not assumed.
New Brunswick clocks go forward at 2 AM on the second Sunday in March. They go back at 2 AM on the first Sunday in November. Maine and Québec west of 63 degrees West change on the same Sundays. New Brunswick stays one hour ahead of both all year.
Times follow each venue's own published hours in local Atlantic time, arranged as a single week that begins on Monday. Hours that run past midnight belong to the night they started. For holiday hours, see the venue's own site.
Checks and gaps
The venue details date from checks on October 7 and 8, 2026. Border towns, time zones and door rules followed on October 9, 2026. Each check ran against the venues' own pages, provincial and federal pages, laws and OpenStreetMap.
Some provincial and Atlantic Lottery pages block automated reading. Their facts were read instead from archived copies of those pages, each dated by month.
If the venue's pages do not agree on a number, the guide drops it or flags the gap. The slot counts of Grey Rock, Tobique and Wolastoq are left out for this reason, and so are Tobique's Sunday and Monday hours. Holiday hours are not given at all; check the venue's own site.
Questions
Why does Next Door use straight lines?
Each distance is a straight line between two OpenStreetMap map points, computed by the guide. These are not driving distances. The site gives no travel times and no road distances, so every figure is written as in a straight line.
Why are the Tobique distances approximate?
The Tobique Gaming Center building is not on the map. In its place, the guide measures from the Tobique First Nation map point. They can be off by 1 or 2 km.
What happens when two pages disagree?
If the venue's pages do not agree on a number, the guide drops it or flags the gap. It does not pick one of them. Holiday hours are not given on the site, so check the venue's own site for those.
