Who runs it
Provincial gaming is conducted and managed by the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation. It is a Crown corporation, set up on June 26, 2008. Atlantic Lottery runs video lottery, ticket lottery and online gaming on its behalf. The four Atlantic provinces own Atlantic Lottery, and New Brunswick is one of them.
The province describes ALC.ca as the only legal and regulated platform for online gambling in New Brunswick. Atlantic Lottery holds that other gambling sites are not legally allowed to operate or advertise in Atlantic Canada. A licence from overseas, it adds, changes nothing about this. Because Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island belong to Atlantic Canada, the statement reaches them too.
In New Brunswick, no provincial scheme that licenses or registers private online casinos was found. Ontario, by contrast, has one. A licence held abroad by a private site is not, in Atlantic Lottery's view, a permission to operate here.
What ALC.ca offers
ALC.ca offers Digital Instants, iBingo and iCasino. Its Live Casino games are listed as available in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. New Brunswick is not named in that list. A reader in Halifax or Charlottetown will find their own province on it.
Every Atlantic Lottery product, ALC.ca included, is 19+ to buy, play or redeem.
In 2023-24, ALC.ca brought in $28.6 million in New Brunswick. iCasino accounted for $24.1 million of that sum. Those figures cover New Brunswick alone. That year also saw the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation report growth in online gambling. The rise ran through regulated and unregulated platforms alike.
Questions
Which online gambling site does the province regulate?
For the province, ALC.ca is the sole platform for online gambling in New Brunswick that is legal and regulated. It is operated by Atlantic Lottery on behalf of the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation.
Does Take a Break cover other online casinos?
Take a Break is an ALC.ca tool and does not reach other sites. Its short pause lasts 1 to 90 days, and its long pause lasts 36, 24, 12 or 6 months. Neither the player nor ALC can reverse it. It does not apply at the private casino this guide links to.
Do inner pages of this guide carry paid links?
Inner pages carry no paid links. Just three paid links exist, all on the home page and all labelled Ad. Each brings in a commission for the site, and the partner behind them may be replaced.
